Trskovaca is a former marshland ecosystem that was significantly changed in the 1970s when hydro - ameliorative measures were undertaken with the aim of bringing this area to agricultural purpose and intensive processed, which was a trend in the world at the time. Since it is a depression and one of the flood zones of the Sava river and it is characterized by high level of underground water, high air humidity in summer months and the dew created by this microclimate, at that time, Trskovaca was a very important area for farmers, especially vegetable growers, as well as habitat. By taking the mentioned actions, the pond ecosystem drastically has been altered and damaged. Former water mirrors are reduced on artificial channels, while it is on land surfaces. As a result of this situation, many plots were abandoned shortly after intensive farming, processing and there was a change of invasive, allochtonous and xerophytic vegetation species dominated in relation to autochthonous hydrophytes and hygrophytes typical of humid habitats.
At the beginning of the 21st century on the initiative of the locals of Platicevo, which is one of the few examples in Serbia. Scientific and professional researches were initiated institution that included pedological, morphological, cultural and natural features of this area. Results of the research was presented in the Protection of the study that was the starting point for the declaration of protection over this habitat.
